Well, this has certainly been a leap of faith by starting a blog. Now, I feel like I am jumping into the "big" kids pool for sure.  I am so so excited to share that not only have I taken the plunge into blogland, but I have opened my very own little TpT store.  I am launching  with my very first product (which is a freebie- I might add). This first product is a resource list of hyperlinks to many of the on-line literacy websites I use each and every day working with teachers and students. It's an expanded and enhanced version of what I distributed to administrators, teachers, parents and students to provide meaningful online literacy activities for students this summer, but I am sure it will support you in literacy instruction throughout the year. I included not only reading and writing content websites but also websites that would be helpful to teachers in implementing reading in history/social studies and science that are integrated into the Common Core K-5 reading standards. I hope you will check out my new TpT store when you get a chance I am hoping to have more products up very soon.

A heartfelt thanks for all your kind words of support, encouragement, and welcome on my blog. You are the best!
Kathi

  1. Kathi, I'm so excited for you. Can't wait to see what you create. I've been stalking Jen's site for a while. Count me as a follower. I love reading blogs written by literacy coaches and teachers. I find so many great ideas for my library and RTI classes. http://mrsbrownthebookworm.blogspot.com/

  4. Kathi, your blog is so cute! It was great to meet you this past week with Jen...I realize you probably met a lot of people! My room was the last kindergarten room you looked at with the seven habits bulletin board, that you took a picture of! :)

I just posted on Jen's blog saying that I felt like I had the Literacy Queens in my room! Thanks for visiting!

Congrats on your blog and store! :)

  7. I am excited to be following a new blog. I am a teacher in CA too, so I look forward to reading your experience with Common Core. I know there isn't a big difference between one state to another but I know CA added some stuff to it. I don't have a blog but reading about your beginning has really planted a bug in my ear. Thanks for the freebie, too.

    1. Laura,
Thanks for following my blog. Yes, CaCCSS has slightly more standards than CCSS. Did you know, the California standards were actually used as support documents to the authors of the blueprint of the CCSS? If you check out Smarter Balance Consortium (SBAC) you can actually take CCSS ELA and Math Tests. It's been a fascinating experience being part of the SBAC pilot this year. More to come on implementing the Common Core on my future posts.
